If the square wave delivers most of the benefits, why include the sine wave? Isn’t it weaker and mainly for relaxation? The TheraPro Pad is designed for everyday use and a wide range of applications. We include both waveforms so users can choose the treatment that fits their needs.

Sine Wave

If you recommend PBM for no more than 30 minutes, why is it set for two hours? Shouldn’t the PEMF run longer instead? Each PEMF setting runs on a 30-minute preprogrammed cycle, but you can restart it anytime. Our PBM (PhotoBioModulation aka Red Light Therapy) timer defaults to two hours because the pad is primarily used on the torso and legs—areas that can safely receive longer exposure. The 30-minute guideline mainly applies to the head and face. You can turn the red lights off at any time if you prefer shorter sessions.

The timer goes up to 12 hours and defaults to 8—what does this control? That timer controls the infrared heat only. It allows users to enjoy gentle warmth throughout the night if desired. The PBM and PEMF functions are operated independently from this timer.

Since PEMF and PBM seem so similar, what’s the benefit of using them together? While PEMF and PBM share some effects, they work through different but complementary mechanisms. PBM increases cellular energy (ATP) production, while PEMF improves cellular communication, circulation, and oxygenation. Used together, they enhance one another—creating a more comprehensive therapeutic effect.

If the Therasage Healing Pad already includes near-infrared light, which offers similar effects to red light, how does it differ from the TheraPro PEMF Pad? Red and near-infrared (NIR) light operate at different wavelengths and penetrate to different depths. Red light targets surface-level concerns such as skin tone and healing, while NIR penetrates deeper tissues to support muscles and joints. The TheraPro Pad’s full-spectrum infrared heat can be used with or without the visible red light, allowing fully customizable therapy.
